Dan Jones, CPA

Daniel Jones has over 30 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industries.  He is the founder of DS Jones & Company, a consulting firm offering financial management advisory services and strategic and operational consulting services to insurance financial services enterprises. He has run the firm for 10 years in addition to consulting with Coopers and Lybrand’s national insurance practice for 5 years.

Mr. Jones has over 10 years experience as a Chief Financial Officer for three different insurance companies, first at GTE Reinsurance in Bermuda and then Circle Investors Inc., an insurance holding company that was acquiring and consolidating life insurance enterprises. Also, he was at Gerling Global Financial Products, part of the sixth largest worldwide reinsurance group. In these roles his responsibilities included financial reporting management, investment portfolio oversight, merger & acquisitions, information technology, transaction development, and capital management.

In the course of his career, Mr. Jones has had extensive involvement in financial management, controls and risk, strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions, financial systems, operations reengineering and system implementations, performance measurement, and business valuations.

Mr. Jones holds a BS in Accounting from Adrian College, Michigan and obtained his CPA designation in 1980. He is President of the FEI CT/Westchester chapter and a member of the Board of Contributors, Financing Risk & Reinsurance and the author of numerous articles in the field of reinsurance and finance.
