Adam Kugler, MBA

Adam Kugler has been in bank finance for the last 28 years, with the last 18 at Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co in New York, the 16th largest US bank.  For the past 12 years Mr. Kugler has served as Executive Vice President and Treasurer and has been a member of the Executive Management Committee, setting policy for the entire bank.  He made bi-weekly presentations to the Executive Committee of the Board, managed a staff of 35 professionals and 25 support staff in 3 cities, and had primary responsibility for asset/liability management (including conducting weekly ALCO meetings with the chairman, CEO, President, CFO and relevant business EVPs). 

As head of Treasury operations, he also oversaw all price setting for assets and liabilities of the bank, portfolio management for securities and residential mortgages, asset securitization, liquidity and funding management, foreign exchange and derivatives trading, and acquisition integration for all discretionary assets and liabilities.  Among the portfolios he managed was the bank’s $1.3 billion BOLI, consisting of a number of general account and separate account insurance contracts, some having been purchased by the bank and others obtained in acquisitions.

Prior to joining M&T Bank, Mr. Kugler worked for 4 years as a mortgage backed trader at Drexel Burnham Lambert.  He began his career at Citigroup, working as Head Trader on the Citimae conduit and the firm’s residential whole loan proprietary trading desk.

Mr. Kugler holds a BS with honors in finance and accounting from Tulane University, and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
